Export StoryGraph

How to export your StoryGraph library

Checked against the official help pages on November 5, 2026.

To export your StoryGraph library, sign in at app.thestorygraph.com, open Manage Account from the menu in the top-right corner, and follow the link to the User Export page (app.thestorygraph.com/user-export). It produces a CSV of your books with read status, dates read, star ratings, moods, tags and reviews.

Steps

  1. Sign in at app.thestorygraph.com (a browser is the surest route).
  2. Open Manage Account from the menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Follow the link to the User Export page and start the export.
  4. Download the CSV when it’s ready.

What comes with it

StoryGraph exports we’ve seen include Title, Authors, Contributors, ISBN/UID, Format, Read Status (read, currently-reading, to-read, did-not-finish, paused), Dates Read (one range per read, so rereads keep their dates), Read Count, Moods, Pace, Star Rating in quarter stars, Review, Tags and Owned. We haven’t seen a page-count column.

Bring it into Bookwisp

In Bookwisp, open Settings → Import library and pick the CSV. Every read range becomes its own read, quarter-star ratings are kept, tags become shelves, and “did not finish” and “paused” stay as they are. You see the whole list before anything is saved. Coming from Goodreads too? Export that library and import both; books you already have aren’t doubled.

Moving from Goodreads?

Bring your whole library over. Free, and you see every book before it’s saved.

Pick the CSV you exported from Goodreads or StoryGraph. Ratings, dates, rereads, shelves and reviews come with it, and books you already have aren’t doubled.

Questions

Does the StoryGraph export include my reading journal?
Not all of it. A StoryGraph user noted in November 2025 that the export at the bottom of Manage Account does not include Reading Journal entries.
What can I do with a StoryGraph CSV?
Import it into another app that reads StoryGraph exports — Hardcover and Bookwisp do — or open it in a spreadsheet as a backup.
